Luke's Just A Boy with A New Haircut

It finally happened. We got Luke's hair cut. Because he was starting to look like a hippie. Or a street urchin. Or maybe even a hobo baby.

While we braced for the worst kind of toddler meltdown, Luke was remarkably stoic about the whole thing, caring not one whit for that stupid train, Thomas, on the DVD they put in for him

When she finished, he rocked his best Don Rosella

After, we celebrated by going to the park for some puddle stomping...

...and for some doing the slide wrong

On Monday night, he showed off his new easy, breezy style by helping out around the apartment. Noisily.

And tonight he proved that he's more than a one-berry-baby, showing raspberries the love. Watch for some ear, hair, and hand showing-offing near the end (to name but a few)!

Team Lisa Needs Your Support!

It's Race Time again, and Luke and his mom are going to run breast cancer out of town for the second year in a row! On September 13th, we'll join TEAM LISA for the Komen NYC Race for the Cure. Last year, Team Lisa earned $12,000 for Komen, and LuketheBoy fans (hey, that's you!) were a big part of Luke and his Mom contributing over $2000 toward our team's total. This year, our team has an ambitious $15,000 goal and this is our request for you to help us again!

Pleeeeease? I mean, LOOK at this face:

WHY DO WE RACE?
  • Because breast cancer knows no boundary be it age, gender, socioeconomic status, or geographic location
  • Because the greatest risk factors for getting breast cancer are being female and getting older
  • Because one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime
  • We race because it makes a real difference - just look at the number of survivors at the Race every year; they are a testament to our success. Together we can realize our promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever
Most of all, Luke and I race because we love Auntie Lisa and are grateful to have her in our lives.

Please help us reach that goal with your financial support. Online donations are simple, and the site is secure. Please go to my fundraising page and make a tax-deductible donation online http://www.komennyc.org/goto/paigeandluke09 -- click on "Sponsor Paige" and help support us today.

If you prefer, you can also mail your donation to:
Komen Greater NYC Race for the Cure
P.O. Box 9223, GPO
New York, NY 10087-9223
Please make your check payable to: Susan G. Komen for the Cure and add my name in the memo so that I will be credited for your donation.

I know that this year is a difficult one for a lot of us, but every single dollar counts and there are no minimum donations.

Thank you all in advance for your support!
Love,
Luke & Paige

Handsome Boy Modeling School

Luke's Grammy & Grandpap are going to Pittsburgh this week to close on their new house. In celebration of this milestone, here are some pictures of Luke, putting those BabyGap models to shame. (?)

This is one of my favorite Luke expressions - all "WTF?" - probably because it's such a Paul face. And it shows his range. [speaking of Paul, one day he'll get around to posting the other pictures of Luke at the Haverford reunion...one day]

Here Luke frolics in the fountain in Hoboken's Elysian Park

He can do pensive...

Artsy action photo!
Uh, oops. Outtake!

Are these photos from 2009 or 1959? YOU be the judge! (and just look at that smile!)

Take it all in, Ladies, this is a ONE PIECE JUMPERAgain with the pensive

And finally, Luke does some real acting in his new found role as "big fat party guy" (Packers Mardi Gras Edition)

One too many sippy cup hurricanes?Agents: he's also classically trained in ballet. Look at this uh, arabesque?

Electric City: Summer 2009

Last month, we visited Grandma & Grandpa Casey in Scranton for a long weekend. Luke had a lot of fun making himself comfortable at his father's ancestral home, and we had many adventures that did NOT include references to TV's The Office.

Starting in reverse, Luke almost struck a nice pose in a picture with Grandma & Grandpa on the way out of town

He got his wiggles out on a walk down Olive St. with Grandpa

He spent, cumulatively, perhaps more than an entire hour opening and closing, and entering and exiting Grandma & Grandpa's front gate

He took off his shorts and donned Grandpa's hat

He also found Grandpa's foam pad, and proceeded to wrestle it into submission for about 20 minutes, getting progressively more hot and sweaty.

He wanted to get a jump start on the admissions process at the University (too bad he can't yet read the sign redirecting him to another building)

He burned some energy running around campus

He got to check out a robin's egg with Mom and Grandma - it even had a little hole poked through by the beak!

And he finally posed nicely with Grandma & Grandpa

ACK: A Preview

Luke just got back from a his first official vacation - all the way to Nantucket. Paige's friend from college, Sarah, has a fantastic house on the island, and a big group of us gathered together to eat, drink, and be merry for Independence Day. We have lots and lots of pictures to wade through, and some catch up posts to write, but thought we'd give a special sneak preview of Luke's big trip!

Luke had fun learning lots of mischief from Sarah's boys, Jacob and Ronan (of the Jacob & Ronan Collection)

Luke got suited up for the walk down to Fisherman's Beach - and made sure to pack his trusty broom. (He seriously carried it the entire ride down)

Luke posed postcard perfect with Dad

A little less so with Mom

And spent the majority of his time on the beach sound asleep in his stroller

He made good use of the "bonus sweater" from Cathy on a chilly evening

He took an educational walk through the Cisco Brewery

And just look at all of the fun the kids were having together! (yes, Sarah bought them all matching shirts and buckets)

We had an incredible time hanging out with old friends & can't wait to share all of our great memories....but first, Mom & Dad need a good night's sleep!
