Rock & Roll Baby, Part 1: Because You're Mine

Mom's been waiting to bust out this onesie since her shower.

Thanks, Aunt Tanya!

Napping with Mom

Luke doesn't just enjoy a nice nap on dad's chest. His new morning activity is to snuggle up with mom and enjoy a little quality time while dad goes to work.

Awwww

Celebrity Impersonations III*

One is an action star, born in Derbyshire who was also a member of the British National Diving team for 12 years. Best known for his roles as the Transporter and in The Italian Job, this stubbly haired actor drives the ladies wild.

The other is a baby, born in Hoboken, and a member of Dad's Team best known for staring at his mobile and his smile. This short haired guy drives the ladies wild with his wide blue eyes.

Can you tell the difference?

Jason Statham

The Happy Fun Chair

Unfortunately, we cannot seem to capture the look of pure delight that crosses his face when we first put him in Happy Fun Chair. This is the closest we've come.

These songs...they haunt my dreams. The other day I even found myself humming the one song over and over, wondering what it was. When I realized it was one of the Happy Fun Chair songs, I was so sad for myself. We are a bit perplexed that "Dixie" is one of the songs in its repertoire as well...

Quick Pics

There are some longer photo essays to come, but in the meantime a few quick snaps to tide people over...

Zoot Alors! Luke went and joined the French Navy!

But not before he went to Maxwell's, and enjoyed a little rock (which his parents discovered was loud enough to hide his fussing). In addition, he also helped his parents make fun of the hippie baby in a sling.
And just today, he wore his hat for the first time since it was so sunny and warm. Dad got home early and we all enjoyed a lunch out and a nice walk through Hoboken.

Don't Forget Hrbek

After a Garmin misadventure that exposed the Casey/Conerys to the still beating heart of Newark's shipping hub, they were kind enough to take care of Luke for a few hours while his parents enjoyed their first solo brunch since his arrival.

Roberta has not lost her ability to multi-task, and was able to help stretch out Luke's feeding while still enjoying some crosswords.

Luke had fun with his cousins. Peter was nice enough to play some AC/DC for him while he was being changed, and Ian entertained him while he had fun on his play mat.

After Paige got her hair cut, we all went for a walk, explored the Hoboken beach, and Ian white knuckled the stroller all the way to the waterfront.

By the end of the trip, Luke was so comfortable with his cousins that he took a nap,
First on Peter
and then on Ian

Thanks for visiting!

Uff Da! (Part I)

When you think of Minnesota, you may think of The Replacements, Sinclair Lewis, 3M, 10,000 lakes, The Golden Gophers, or Jesse Ventura. However after a recent visit, Luke just thinks of his aunt and uncle and cousins.

The Casey/Conery clan (Roberta, Steve, Peter, and Ian) came to visit the other weekend, on their way to Washington D.C. Excited for their first meeting with Luke, the cuddles started straight away, and everyone took a turn.

Steve quickly proved that he had not lost his baby walking chops, and ability to calm down fussy boys.

Ian also did a good job, and quickly picked up the skill of holding onto Luke and patting his back at the same time.

Peter managed to keep a good hold on Luke (his previous babysitting experience coming in handy) despite his brother and dad's best attempts to startle Luke.

Capped off by a dinner at Ali Baba's it was a full evening for everyone.

Coming up in part II: Mom and Dad enjoy a solo brunch, Peter plays AC/DC for his cousin, Roberta stretches out a feeding, and Ian white knuckles it with the stroller.

The Captain's B-day

Luke wants to give a shout out to Captain Rob on his birthday and wish him luck at the tables this weekend.

Rob and Tanya dropped by the other week, and got some love from Luke before he got upset.

First some lap time for Boom Boom

And then Aunt Tanya

And then he modeled his baby toupee for the visitors

Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the Right

We entertained some visitors from the land of 10,000 lakes recently*, and while they were here we got the first shot of the Caseys since Luke was born.

Someone refused to look at the camera....

* Many more photos of the Lutafisk
lovers to come.

Celebrity Impersonations II

Though not as wishy-washy and hopefully more successful at pitching or kicking a football, Luke does share a certainly similarity with every one's favorite blockhead, Charlie Brown.

Luke The Baby/Luke The Bear

As some of you may know, Paul grew up with a bear named Cool Hand Luke (handcrafted by American artisans and named after the Paul Newman character of the same name. Contrary to some of the theories floating out there, the baby was not named after the bear (or the movie).

However, that doesn't mean that they can't dress alike.

First the Bear:

Note the nose that baby Paul pulled off, and the Sinatra pin from his adopted home of Hoboken.

The Baby and the undressed Bear:

The likeness is uncanny!

The transformation is complete:

Luke (the Bear) tries to push Luke (the baby) out of the shot for his own 15 minutes of internet fame.*

*For the record, Luke (the bear) is a gentle bear & would not actually harm Luke (the baby).

This Cute & That Cute

Luke's continuing to change so much every day. He's getting more hair (though his Aunt Roberta said that "only a mother could call that hair") and what we suspect is a widow's peak is becoming more pronounced. He's making lots more eye contact, he's smiling a TON, he's discovered his hands, and he's even given us a few full nights of sleep! Of course, I have yet to make it all the way through one of those nights without waking up, waiting for him to wake up...Tragic!

Luke has also discovered his mobile - a gift from Aunt Aimee. This weekend we discovered that it calms a fussy baby - and buys his parents a few minutes to regroup.
You can see how much it relaxes him in the video here:

Easter Best

Just one day after the poopsplosion of 2008, we dressed Luke in Easter finery. You would never know he had been reduced to just a t-shirt and a dipe 12 short hours prior to these photos...

We figure our time is limited when we can dress him so precious adorable angel baby-y - and these photos can be used to embarrass him when he is a teenager. While all the elements of his outfit are fine on their own, put together, he's a bit Little Lord Fauntleroy.

Sadly, this looks to be the last outing for his 0-3 month sweater (thanks, Cathy!)...buttoned up, you can see that his milk-gut is about to burst it open. What? He's working on it!

Opening Day

Like the Bombers' last opening day at Yankee Stadium, Luke's opening day was delayed as well. Thanks to Grandma Rosella, he has the proper uniform, and is all set for his starring role on Dad's Team.

Luke responds to the Met's chances this year.

Since it was cold for the opener, Luke needs to wear his long sleeve shirt under his uniform.

Getting pulled out of the game early didn't go over well, and explanations were ignored.

Bathing & Joy

Recently the only time Luke has been calm for an extended period of time (except for eating and sleeping) is during and after his bath.

Check out these pics. Later on, I'm going to add some hand colored flowers and tell Anne Geddes to stick it.
